There are a lot of surface-level guides out there. This one gets into the actual math. By the end you'll understand exactly how traits fire, when they don't, and how to guarantee activation.

The 20/30% Threshold
Every trait requires its carrier ore to be present in your recipe. In the 3-slot format, each ore is ~33% of composition, which clears the standard 20-30% activation thresholds trivially.
Math by Recipe Size
In the 3-ore recipe format, each slot represents ~33% of composition. That easily clears both the 20% and 30% activation thresholds — a single trait-carrier ore is enough to fire the trait.
Multi-Trait Recipes
You can activate multiple traits in one recipe by picking 3 ores that each carry a different trait. This is how top-tier builds get 3 traits simultaneously in a single forge.
World Modifier Effects
Some worlds reduce trait thresholds. World 4 and The Peak both give trait bonus multipliers that lower the effective threshold slightly.
Common Trait Mistakes
Picking 3 ores with the same trait (wasted slots). Ignoring world multipliers when planning recipes. Choosing traits that don't synergize with your weapon choice.
