Pickaxe Tiers
Roblox The Forge has 7 pickaxe tiers. Each tier can break specific rock types. World 1 pickaxes can't touch World 3 rocks. Progression is gated by pickaxe upgrades as much as by boss kills.
Starter to Iron Pickaxe
Start with wood, upgrade to stone, then iron. Iron pickaxe unlocks all World 1 rocks. Cost: minimal. Time: 1-2 hours of casual play.
Steel and Titanium Pickaxes
Required for World 2 rocks. Titanium specifically unlocks Diamond Vein. Steel is enough for most World 2 content, but Titanium is worth the upgrade if you want to farm Diamond.
Legendary Pickaxes
Required for World 3 onward. Dragon Pickaxe unlocks Dragon Vein and Basalt Core. Phoenix Pickaxe adds Astral Rock and Meteor Fragment. Each pickaxe has specific rock affinities.
Peak Pickaxe
The endgame pickaxe. Unlocks all Peak-tier rocks. Costs 20+ celestial ores to craft. Priority progression target once you clear World 4.
